S CORPORATION MINI-SEMINAR
Keith and I are in Chicago for our second 2009 Roundtable. It's been a hit, as you'll see from the reviews below, but it's taken a big chunk of our week to prepare and travel. We even have Catherine with us this round, so we're running the office remotely, too. (Don't call!) So this week's Briefs will be true to its name.
We've gotten a lot of compliments for the "mini-seminars" we prepared for the Obama election and stimulus packages. So we've decided to create a series of mini-seminars on specific topics. We don't really see them used for large groups, but we do see them as useful resources for walking individual clients through specific strategies, at your desk or in your conference room.
The first of these presentations walks clients through the ins and outs of S corporations: how to establish and maintain them, how they minimize employment tax, lower audit odds, and even affect future Social Security benefits. We're confident you'll find it a useful tool for communicating the strategy to your clients.
We also expect to roll out similar presentations on topics such as Section 105 plans, meal and entertainment deductions, car and truck expenses, and home office expenses. We trust you'll find these to be helpful as well. And of course we're always open to your suggestions!
You'll find the new mini-seminar in the Playbook, under "Seminar Kits." Let us know what you think, and how we can make these presentations even more useful!

LAST CHANCE FOR EARLY-SEASON ROUNDTABLES
Our last "early season" Roundtable is less than a month away, and seats are almost gone. If you want to take advantage of this opportunity to jumpstart your tax-planning business before summer, then now is the time to register.
We just finished the Chicago Basic session in an elegant corner room at the Mid-America Club, on the 80th floor of the Aon Center — complete with a gorgeous view of Lake Michigan, Millennium Park, and much of Chicagoland. (Ed claims he can see "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" on the horizon — Keith).
As usual, we asked attendees, "if a colleague asked you whether they should attend a Roundtable, what would you tell them?" Here's a sample of today's responses:
"Best money you will ever spend. Absolute 'do not miss' event of your life."
Danny Mueller, Edmond OK
"It is worth your time and money."
Lynn Jones, Salt Lake City UT
"I recommend the Roundtable to any CPA who wants to add tax planning to their practice."
John Shipley, Fort Thomas KY
"Yes, absolutely go, very worthwhile"
Jeff Filter, WI
TaxCoach Roundtables are intensive full-day sessions in hands-on, small-group settings -- hosted at private business clubs, not convention hotels -- dedicated to exploring TaxCoach’s unique combination of tax-planning and business development tools.
There are no outside speakers. No outside sales pitches. Just Keith and I, walking you step-by-step through getting the most from your TaxCoach membership.
For 2009, we’ve picked six convenient locations across the country and six dates from April through October. And this year, each venue offers two sessions:
- On Thursdays, we’ll host Basic Roundtables for new users. This is a reprise of last year’s agenda in case you missed it, you want a refresher, or you want to send an associate. (We're especially pleased to see that over 70% of last year's attendees who have already registered for this year's event are choosing to repeat the Basic presentation. They've all cited the networking and masterminding, as well as the value of the material, to justify the repeat.)
- On Fridays, we’ll host Advanced Roundtables for more experienced users. We suggest you attend the Basic session before joining the Advanced session, but it's not required.
Come to one or come to both and put your tax-planning practice on steroids! Click here for complete details, including daily agendas, and a registration form. (All-Stars and Hall of Famers, see the Roundtables link on the left (blue) side of the All-Stars page to register for free.)
Space is limited, so reserve your seat now. And we mean it! Just choose which remaining session best meets your needs:

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME
Thursday, May 21, Keith and I will be leaving the office early for our first "Take Me Out to the Ball game" event of the season. Our beloved Cincinnati Reds will take on the Philadelphia Phillies at Great American Park. It's a Business Day Special, with the first pitch at 12:35 PM. And you're invited to join us!
The Reds are off to a great start this year, currently 20-14 on the season, tied with the Chicago Cubs for second place in the NL Central division.
Why don't you join us! If you'll be in or anywhere near Cincinnati, call Catherine at 513/321-2820 or email support@taxcoachsoftware.com by Monday, May 18, to guarantee a seat. We'll look forward to seeing you at the ball game!
